Beating drought means thinking, and acting, outside the square. With forecasts of more and longer droughts as our climates change, smart solutions are vital for a sustainable future.

Western Water is looking for wonderful, weird, working ideas and / or inventions that can help the world save water. What steps have you taken to reduce your water use?

At home: Have you...

  • persuaded your teenagers to take shorter showers?
  • replaced your showerheads?
  • found an ingenious way to re-use laundry rinse water or bathwater?
  • eliminated drips from all your taps?
  • replanted your garden with drought-proof species?
  • installed rainwater tanks or a greywater system?
  • discovered the advantages of mulch and other water-holding garden products?
