Western Water Passes Quality Test
July 2008

Western Water is the first regional Victorian water corporation to successfully achieve certification in a Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS), Regulatory Audit for Drinking Water Risk Management.

The audit is the first to be based on the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Victorian Safe Drinking Water Act. Auditors are certified under the RABQSA Drinking Water certification system, developed by DHS, Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) and VicWater.

Western Water has a positive track record in ensuring drinking water quality exceeds standards. The business's drinking water risk management plan identifies potential risks from catchment to tap. It focuses on a "multiple-barrier" approach and provides several layers of protection for the customer. The plan also provides for the management of water received from Melbourne Water supplies.

Western Water's commitment to providing quality, safe drinking water is documented in the Annual Water Quality Report.
