Responsible for planning and managing the policies, strategies and objectives of Western Water's business, the Board has a wide range of relevant skills, experience and expertise to meets its objectives.

The Board's fundamental role is to build and demonstrate a strong commitment to integrated water resource management. The primary focus is on environmental, economic and social sustainability to ensure that the current and future water and sewer needs of our community are met in a cost effective and environmentally sustainable manner.

The Western Water Board comprises seven Board Members, who each bring specialist skills to the organisation.

Terry Larkins PSM JP
Board Chairman 

Terry.jpg   Appointed Chairman of Western Water in June 2001, Terry had
been Chief Executive of the former Shire of Gisborne and
Secretary of the former Gisborne Water Board.

Terry has a Diploma in Business Studies from RMIT and is an
Associate of the IWA and Fellow of the Institute of Local
Government Management (LGyro).

With more than 30 years experience in the water industry and
local government, he is a Board Member of Melbourne Water,
Chief Executive of Eva Tilley Memorial Home and a current Board
Member of VicWater, Macedon Ranges Health Services and
Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre.

John Wilkinson
Managing Director

john.jpg      Responsible for leading and managing the organisation, John is a
qualified accountant with more than 26 years experience in the
water industry. Appointed Chief Executive of Western Water in
June 2002, John leads the organisation in achieving its vision
and contributing to a sustainable future.

In 1998, John received the Institute of Water Administration's most prestigious award, the Barry Leach Award, acknowledging exceptional service to the Institute and the Victorian water industry.

Marcos Anastassiou

Marcos holds degrees in Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Organisation Behaviour, is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has variously worked in higher education as a planner and academic and consultant. He currently holds a senior planning position at RMIT. Marcos has lived in the Macedon Ranges since 1992, and has been active in the community. He was a Councillor for the Shire of Macedon Ranges from 1997-2000, a Board member of the Djerriwarrh Health Service from 2000-2003 and is a current Board Member of the Port Phillip and Western Port Catchment Management Authority. 

                                                        

Russell Anderson
Board Member

Russell Anderson    

     Russell has extensive experience in financial management, governance, risk management and internal auditing having held senior governance roles at Air New Zealand, Marsh Pty Ltd, CSIRO, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Qantas Group.

Russell has provided independent governance reporting to listed public companies and government authorities incorporating financial and strategic risk analysis. With a Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Russell is actively involved in ensuring sustainability principles are being adopted in corporate governance frameworks utilised in the public and private sectors.

Dorothy Bell
Board Member 

Dorothy B.jpg  Dorothy has completed a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education
and has a Professional Counselling Diploma and Company
Directors' Course Diploma. Dorothy has 30 years of experience in
teaching, state consultancy, curriculum administration and
governance.  A professional mediator and counsellor, Dorothy is
a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors
and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company
Directors.

Lucia Cade
Board Member 
 
Lucia.jpg    Lucia has Bachelor degrees in Engineering and Economics,
Masters degrees in Engineering and Business Administration and
holds a Diploma from the Institute of Company Directors.    Lucia's previous experience includes senior roles at City West Water and Melbourne Water in the areas of infrastructure planning, operations and service delivery.

Lucia currently consults and works within the private and public
sector to develop growth opportunities, develop and implement
strategy and deliver major infrastructure projects. Lucia is also a
Director of the Australian Water Association.


Carol Mathew

Carol has a degree in Social Work and a PhD in Sociology. Her Board experience includes Commissioner Local Government Best Value Victoria; Chair Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation - Rare Natural Fibres Committee; Director Australian Alpaca Co-operative Board; and Director Central Victorian Regional Enterprise Network.

Carol was Victorian Rural Woman of the Year in 2002, and has managed an Alpaca stud farm in Lancefield since 1995. Prior to this, she spent 17 years in Local Government both as a City Councillor and as a senior executive officer.

 


Judy Tyers

Judy was appointed to the Board on 1 October 2007.  She brings to the Board senior public policy and management experience from the public sector where her experience included directing intergovernmental relations and strategic planning in the Department of Premier and Cabinet for five years.  She also brings experience in business from her time as General Manager of the Business Council of Australia.  

Judy has been involved in her community as Chair of Western Water's Macedon Ranges Community Reference Group and she is a Trustee of the Mt Macedon Memorial Cross.  Ms Tyers is also a Board Member of Central Highlands Water and has been previously a Director of the Australian Council of Businesswomen and the National Foundation of Australian Women.  She is currently a sessional member of VCAT and Applied Learning Co-ordinator at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government at Melbourne University.
