LATEST NEWS: It's time to update your waterMAP!

If you submitted a waterMAP last year, it is now time to start the review process and submit your updated plan to Western Water.

Regular review of your waterMAP is a mandatory element of the waterMAPs program.

Things to think about during your review:

Which actions did your business implement during the year?
How much water did they save?
Has your business come up with any new actions?
What are the estimated water savings these actions might produce?
How much money can your business spend on water saving initiatives?
Is management committed to water efficiency?
Can you tie energy efficiency to water efficiency to win management approval?

If you need assistance with the revision of your waterMAP feel free to contact Western Water on 03 9218 5400.

Western Water will be in contact with each waterMAP customer over the next few months to assist with the revision process.

The waterMAP program at Western Water

Western Water is committed to working towards sustainably achieving a long-term balance between available water supply and demand.

Our aim is to achieve a 30 per cent reduction in water use on the 1990's average usage by the year 2020. This reduction in use and other actions are intended to ensure water supply security in the high-growth region that Western Water services.

The Victorian Government recently announced a water conservation program for non- residential customers. Major water users are required to improve their water efficiency through the implementation of their own water Management Action Plan (waterMAP).

A State Government inititiative, the waterMAP program is an amendment to water business' Permanent Water Saving Plans and will target non-residential water customers who use 10 million litres or more of drinking water per year. These customers are required to submit a waterMAP to Western Water, identifying their key water uses, opportunities to save water, actions to begin conserving water, and the associated costs to implement these actions.

Customers participating in waterMAPs will submit an annual progress update to Western Water. Eligible customers have been contacted by Western Water to advise them of their requirement to register for the program.
