'Greywater' is the term given to all used water discharged from a house, except for toilet water.
Greywater includes shower, bath, hand basin, dishwasher, kitchen sink, washing
machine and laundry tub water. This water is called 'grey' water because it turns grey if stored for a while.
With the continuing dry conditions, many people are looking at how they can use greywater to water their gardens.
Western Water has a fact sheet with helpful information about greywater and rainwater. You can see the fact sheet by clicking here.
Greywater can be a good water resource in dry periods but its reuse can carry health and environmental risks. Please visit the Environment Protection Authority website for further information on the do's and don'ts of greywater reuse.
